.
Go with whatever leaves you with a lower time at the end (when you include the save penalty). It's a speedrun after all.

Well, segmenting levels in games using this engine will often yield several seconds of improvement per level, compared to doing the level in one segment.

I wanted to do a run of this game but never had the patience to go through it, I've uploaded my second level for you the time is 3:15 iirc. The fight with the first demon is horrible, I missed a shot, I think I kept it because of the trite boosting, nvmd.

EDIT: I'm curious on how you managed to do level one in 1:15, my best time was like 1:49, there must be something I missed?
EDIT: I just re-read the topic and you are at level 3, sorry I thought you had 3:35 in level 2, my mistake, useless post.

Well my times so far are:
level1 - 1:15
level2 - 2:28
level3 - 3:32
I'm not touching the first level since I won't be able to shave any time at all with segmenting. Not like it could get improved by at least half a second in one segment anyway. I'm sure I can shave a full second from level2 with harder segmenting though. Same goes for level3.
edit: Lol, the first half of the second level went down by 3 seconds already (2,5s counting the extra penalty)...

After counting down the penalties and shit it's 6 seconds faster than my last final run, not to mention it's far more entertaining that way.

This is what I tried to tell tagh_azog when he was working on the 1:09 Marine run. There is nothing to gain from 1 segment per level in Doom 3. By segmenting levels you get the most weird improvements in this game, seemingly coming from nowhere.

Finally I got past the effing glide trick at the start of level3 in decent time. That means I can continue this run without getting a headache from even thinking about having to double click the roe icon again, knowing that there's nothing more but frustration on the other side.

Probably final. I didn't even try to improve the first part because the chances for the gravity gun boost to work perfectly are none, so right now I'm like fuck it. I can't seem to improve on the third part mostly because of the huge amount of dumb luck I got in this attempt during the random parts which would mean the whole segment.
edit: Or not. The super minor mistakes in the third part burn my eyes. An improvement is on its way.

I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
omg groobo, you are such a perfectionist.
The level 4 run is already insanely fast to my eyes. I would have to watch it multiple times before understanding the route.

I just finished the run in about 31 minutes. I'll go back and redo a couple of my earlier segments to shave a second or two before submitting though.

Wow, wait, as in the WHOLE RoE run is done?

Great run Groobo. Amazing how much time you cut out of the previous run.

Very entertaining Speedrun of Resurrection of Evil
i love the new tricks and improvements of the older run
the gravitygun trick is very cool tho!
But i have to say the ingame quality very low huh?
Cant your computer handle more quality with Fraps? I hoped to see a 60 FPS speedrun @ HQ
But yeah the speedrun is very good, at some parts i thought you'll die with only 3hp left or so.
Good thing that you dont have ADHD "movement" in your speedrun, its worth a look!

If it aint broke don't fix it.
this was one hell of a run... 8-D
i dont know how this could ever be beaten, your routs are amazing, your gameplay is... simply fast.
i hope you dont retire as well.
have to watch it again...

Totally awesome run, groobo (Polish Rifle, lol). It's been a while since I've watched the old run of RoE, but I can't remember beeing so impressed like I was after I've finished watching your run. The gravity gun parts where really amazing and you've done pretty good with surviving at some parts with only a few HP left. I also like the fact that you used more segments than the runner of the previous run wich totally payed off. And nice too see a run of you without any headache causing ADHD parts.

Great run, groobo. I've been waiting for a while for a new run utilising tossedsalad's sliding trick, and I must say it looks great in the run. And, as we've come to expect from you, it looked very polished. Also, can't say that I actually registered your 'biggest mistake' in the run as such. At least if it's the zombie I think you were talking about. Otherwise I didn't even notice it at all

I finally got around to watch this run myself. There's not much to say except it's a great run
